Garden tools users 'will continue to plant fruit and vegetables'

Grow-your-own gardening will continue to be popular into the next year and beyond, according to one expert.
Kris Collins, who is the gardening editor of Amateur Gardening, points out that people first jumped onto the bandwagon when growing fruit and vegetables started to take off, but some reckon its just a matter of time before the wheels fall off of this trend.
However, Mr Collins reckons the opposite will happen and believes that, as long as gardeners go for the right methods, they can continue to reap the rewards from what is available on their own back lawn.
He said: "There have been lots of developments on the back of popularity of the grow your own trend or smaller varieties that take up less space in the garden but still provide good yields of fruit and vegetables."
Mr Collins also advises homeowners who do not want to dedicate a lot of space to this part of their garden to look to invest in products that allow for vertical growing, as these can also produce successful results.
The predictions made by Mr Collins are in contrast with reports by Ronseal that homeowners are currently spending less than £100 per year in the garden in favour of other home improvements like furnishing and decorating.
