Tool hire users looking to carry out some home improvements have been given a number of tips on where best to look first.

Anyone with staircases should look to do away with a plain design by adding photo frames along the wall of this area of the property, with a range of sizes, positions and colours helping the eye to move along a set path, according to Pamela Natukunda, who was talking to the Daily Monitor.

Mirrors can also create the illusion of more space in a room like a bathroom and so fixing one to a wall can usually do the trick.

Homeowners looking to save a bit of money are also advised by Ms Natukunda that they do not need to buy a whole new range of furniture to make a property feel fresh.

She said: "Having furniture and hangings in the same position is boring, so make it a habit to keep changing as often as you like."

The idea of making a room feel bigger by adding windows was highlighted by DIY expert Phil Spencer, who also said that focusing on the bathroom and kitchen can also add value to a home, the Telegraph has reported.
