International Women's Day 2025

This year, International Women's Day (IWD) falls on March 8th and people all around the world will be celebrating and honouring the cultural, economic, social and political successes of women.

This year IWD focuses on a call to action for accelerating gender equality and here at HSS ProService, we couldn't agree more.

It's no secret that the DIY game has been dominated by men for centuries. But it's a new year and a new generation. More women are picking up power tools and equipment and getting stuck in with home DIY projects and they're documenting it for all to see on their socials. We love to see it!

To mark International Women's Day 2025, we want to celebrate some of our favourite ladies on socials who love DIY just as much as we do.

Akilah Cohen @kilahgram

Akilah began renovating her new home in March 2022 and has given us nothing but pure comedy gold along the way.

Not afraid to get her hands dirty, Akilah takes us through each step of creating her dream home from totally gutting the house to plastering, installing radiators, sanding and much more whilst also giving us fun dance moves and hilarious commentary in every video.

Clare Hooper @clarehooper

Based in West Yorkshire, Clare is all about good vibes, upcycling and DIY. She shows us fun, affordable ways we can upgrade our living spaces and create something new, without having to fork out a lot of money.

You can watch Clare create fun content from gardening, making decorations to revamping different areas of her home.

Nicole Wong @the.wisdom.family

Championing single mums, Nicole shows us all that women can do anything they put their minds too.

Self-taught DIYer, Nicole has transformed her home using tools of all kind for plastering, panelling, gardening and even built a media wall and a climbing frame for her children. Girl power!

E Okodaso - Vee @athome_with_vee

Vee is a solo homeowner who has built her following creating beginner-friendly DIY content as well as showing us all how to do easy upgrades.

You can find Vee singlehandedly putting her gorgeous personal touch on her home by repairing damaged walls, making office transformations, building her own garden planters and so much more.

Jenny Game @jenshomejournal

Jenny loves DIY and gardening and we have to say, she's amazing at it!

On Jenny's socials, you witness her giving her home a complete overhaul taking it from the 1930's to current times. Beginning DIY on her previous home, Jenny has done some fantastic projects from creating her son's nursery, updating the porch, laying wooden floor and she also has good gardening tips too.

International Women's Day 2025

There are so many women tackling their own home and garden projects and not depending on professional traders to do it for them. We want to encourage more women to pick up the tools and continue changing the game!
