Nobody at HSS DIY does things by halves — and it turns out we’re not the only ones who’ve noticed. We’ve picked up a fair few accreditations along the way, and rather than just stick the badges on a page, here’s what each one actually means.

Looking after the planet

• EcoVadis Platinum — the top rating, and not one you can talk your way into. It’s awarded on evidence, so it means our sustainability policies are genuinely doing something, not just sitting in a folder.
• ISO 14001 (Environmental) — we keep a close eye on our waste, emissions and resource use, stay the right side of the law, and chip away at our impact year on year.

How we run the place

• ISO 9001 (Quality) — the world’s best-known quality management standard. In simpler terms: we’ve got a proper documented system for making sure our services, tools and materials are consistently good (and we actually follow it).
• ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) — we spot risks before they turn into incidents and manage them properly, so everyone on the team gets home in one piece.
• CHAS Advanced — we meet the core standards on health and safety, finance, insurance, equality, environment and quality.
• SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) — this one means we make sure our employees are safe whilst working. We provide regular training and risk assessments, and have a thorough health & safety policy behind it all.
• SafeContractor — an SSIP-recognised health and safety assessment. This means someone independent has picked apart how we manage risk and given us the thumbs up.
• UKIFDA — we're members of the UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association, the trade body for liquid fuel distribution. We work to their Code of Practice, which means every drop of fuel we handle is stored, moved and delivered to a professional standard — safely, and with no shortcuts.

Keeping data safe

• ISO 27001 (Information Security) — everything we hold is locked down properly, with the policies and risk controls to keep it that way.
• Cyber Essentials — a UK government-backed standard covering the five basics that stop most cyber attacks: firewalls, secure settings, access control, malware protection and patching.

Worth doing business with

• Constructionline Gold — this advanced prequalification is a fancy way of saying we’ve been put through the wringer on insurance, finances, health and safety, environment, quality and equality — and came out the other side.
• Hire Association of Europe (HITZ) — proof we're a hire industry supplier you can trust. It tells anyone thinking of working with us that we operate safely, supply high-quality products, handle data securely and are serious about getting greener.
• Achilles — an independent check that we meet global standards on sustainability, quality, safety and compliance.
