5 Tips for Post-Christmas Cleaning

December 5th 2023

When the festive cheers have quietened down and the celebrations have come to an end, you may wake up one day to find you have a lot of cleaning to catch up on. So here are our 5 top tips for cleaning your homes after the Christmas holiday.

  1. Storage - Christmas means decorations! From trees to lights to wreaths and ornaments, there's so much to put up to make your home feel festive. Once it's time to take them down, why not store the decorations in large bags or tote boxes. You can neatly put them away in your garage, loft, under the stairs or even under your bed and it means you won't have any unnecessary clutter. It also means you won't have to throw anything out and rebuy them the following year.
  2. Carpet & Floor Cleaning - Dozens of shoes are going to be walking in and around your home during Christmas that will carry all types of dirt and debris. Not only will shoes play a factor to a dirty carpet but drink and food spillages will create a mess too. Hire or buy one of our vacuums to give your carpets a good clean. If your flooring needs deeper cleaning, you can hire our popular carpet cleaner to get your carpets clean, fresh & looking brand new again. For areas of your house that aren't carpeted, we have a range of brushes, brooms and mops that'll get the job done, that you can buy.
  3. Oven Cleaning - With the festive season comes a lot of food. You'll find you're using your cooker and oven a lot more so why not give your oven a deep clean and get it looking sparkling again. We have all you need to give your oven a good scrub, from powerful oven cleaner sprays that get rid of fat & burnt food quickly, marigold gloves to keep your hands protected whilst using harsh chemicals & we even have heavy-duty scourers if you need an extra hand removing stubborn stains.
  4. Declutter - Boxes, bubble wrap, wrapping paper. It all piles up during Christmas so decluttering and recycling can help you get rid of all the unnecessary rubbish. Use your recycling bins for your boxes and papers & if you or your loved ones have gotten too many gifts & you want to get rid of older things around your home, why not donate what you don't want to a local charity or to someone you know to clear up some space.
  5. Make it fun! - Don't look at cleaning your home as a huge dreaded chore. There's a few things you can do to make cleaning fun. Put some music on to keep your mood and energy up to help you get through your tasks, rope in family & friends to help you - If there's children in your family, make cleaning into a fun game for them to get involved too. If you're a lover of organisation, why not make a checklist & tick off each job so you complete it.
