During the summer, your lawn will be actively growing and will need regular maintenance & caring for.

In this blog, we will take you through some summer lawn care tips that'll help keep your grassy areas growing & looking healthy.

Summer Lawn Care Checklist

Keep on top of weeding

De-weeding your lawn regularly is a top summer lawn care tip.

Did you know weeds thrive in the warm weather?

If there's enough heat & moisture, weeds will spread quickly through your lawn.

It's extremely common to have some weeds present on any lawn, so don't panic if you find one day you're a bit overgrown with them.

By applying lawn feed, weedkiller or pulling them out by hand, will help reduce the likelihood of them growing back.

Quench it's thirst!

Whilst the sun has got his hat on (hip hip hip hooray!), the heat will dry out our lawns and turn brown.

Nobody wants that!

Watering your lawn once a week to every 10 days should be enough to keep your grass green & lush.

The quickest way to water your lawn is by using a garden hose or sprinklers.

Aerating your lawn before watering is not only a top summer lawn care tip but it's a great way to help water soak in to the soil.

Read on to find out more about it.

Aeration is key

Aerating your lawn comes with so many benefits for your lawn in the summer.

Reducing thatch build up, thicker lawn growth and healthier roots are just some of the benefits from using an aerator.

The process breaks down the soil and allows air, water & additional nutrients to penetrate the dirt so they reach the root more effectively.

Mow regularly

You'll need to mow your lawn more often during the summer time as it'll be growing at a quicker rate.

Some of you may find you're having to mow once a week, whereas in other areas of the UK, twice a week might be enough for you.

When mowing, make sure you're cutting at the right height. You don't want to cut the lawn too low or leave it too high.

Before using your lawnmower, do some maintenance on it. Check the blades are sharp and it's been cleaned since the last use.

When the weather is severely hot, don't attempt to mow your lawn. If you do, you'll risk causing stress to the grass & cause more damage so it's best to leave it for a cooler day.

Feed your lawn

Want to give your lawn a bit of a boost?

Our next summer lawn care tip - give it some feed & seed!

Feed & seed contains a blend of nutrients that will help your lawn grow strong & healthy, keeping it beautiful and green. Sounds lush doesn't it?!

It's recommended to apply lawn feed twice a year. First in spring/summer with the next application to be done autumn/winter.
