How to Fix Water Damaged Plaster Walls

But what do we do when our walls are ruined?
Here's how to fix your water damaged plaster walls in your home.
Seek out the leak
Before you do anything, you'll need to find out where the leak is coming from.
There's no point trying to fix the appearance of the wall but not sorting out the source of the water damage.
Depending on what's caused the leak, you might have to call a plumber or a roofer to help fix the issue.
Dry the area
Once the leak has been fixed, you'll need to make sure the wall is fully dry before you start the fixing process.
If you don't, you risk added issues such as structural damage to your home & mould growth.

Remove the damaged plaster
Once your walls have dried out, you might find the plaster on your walls has been damaged.

Time to clean

Get some bonding agent on the wall with a roller then apply some plaster mix.
Once it's all dry, sand the wall to make sure it's smooth before you start decorating.

Now everything is dry, smoothed over and looking like a wall again, it's time to decorate.
Depending on how many walls are damaged, you might decide you want to redecorate the entire room instead of getting it looking like it used to.
