Enduramat Kit with Couplers

An Enduramat Kit is used to create temporary ground protection surfaces over soft, wet, or uneven terrain, allowing vehicles and pedestrians to access and traverse areas that would otherwise become rutted, muddy, or impassable. Enduramat Kits are widely used on construction sites, outdoor events, festivals, film and TV productions, utility works, and agricultural settings where repeated traffic across unprotected ground would cause significant surface damage.

An Enduramat Kit can be deployed anywhere temporary ground protection is needed — construction site access routes, plant roadways, welfare compound entrances, outdoor event pedestrian pathways, festival site vehicle tracks, temporary car parks on grass, film production sites, and sports ground surrounds. The reversible mat design allows the same Enduramat Kit to provide a vehicle-rated surface on one side and a pedestrian-safe surface on the other, covering a wide range of site scenarios with a single product.

An Enduramat Kit protects the ground by distributing the concentrated load of vehicle tyres and foot traffic across a much larger surface area than the contact point alone. This prevents the ground pressure from exceeding the bearing capacity of the underlying soil, which is what causes rutting and mud formation. By spreading load laterally across the mat surface, an Enduramat Kit allows vehicles and pedestrians to traverse soft ground without causing the compaction and displacement damage that occurs on unprotected turf or soil.

Yes, the mats have a reversible non-slip surface—one side designed for pedestrian use and the other for vehicle access.

Yes. Enduramat Kit mats are designed for rapid deployment without plant or specialist labour — each mat is laid flat in sequence and connected to adjacent mats using the supplied connectors, which lock the sections together to prevent separation under vehicle loading. A two-person team can lay a standard Enduramat Kit access track quickly, and the same process in reverse allows efficient recovery and reloading at the end of the hire period.

No. Enduramat Kit mats are installed manually with no tools required. Each mat includes built-in hand cut-outs that allow two people to carry and position the sections safely. The connector system clicks together without fixings or machinery. This tool-free installation makes an Enduramat Kit fast to deploy and retrieve, reducing the time and labour cost of ground protection setup compared to alternatives that require mechanical placement.

Yes. Enduramat Kit mats are engineered to support site vehicles and construction machinery, distributing axle loads across the mat surface to protect the ground underneath. For very heavy plant such as cranes or large excavators, check the specific load rating in the hire documentation against the machine's axle weight before deployment — correctly specified ground protection is a site safety requirement under CDM regulations.

Yes. Enduramat Kit mats are highly durable and designed for extensive reuse across multiple projects, events, and hire cycles. The high-density polyethylene construction resists impact, UV degradation, and chemical contamination, allowing the mats to be cleaned, stacked, and redeployed repeatedly without loss of structural performance. Inspect each mat for cracks or deformation after recovery and before the next deployment.

Yes. Enduramat Kit mats are widely used at outdoor events including music festivals, air shows, outdoor concerts, agricultural shows, sporting events, and corporate hospitality venues to protect grass and turf from the damage caused by high pedestrian volumes, catering vehicles, production equipment, and temporary infrastructure. The pedestrian side of the mat provides a non-slip walking surface that maintains reliable grip even on sloping ground in wet conditions, making it well suited to public access areas.

Yes. Enduramat Kit mats are specifically designed for deployment in wet and muddy conditions — the non-slip surface profiles on both sides maintain traction for vehicles and pedestrians even on saturated ground. The mat structure prevents the surface from sinking into soft mud under loading, which would cause traction loss and potential bogging. In very deep mud, ensure the ground is stable enough to bear the edge loading of the mat perimeter before vehicle use.

Enduramat Kit mats can be loaded and unloaded by two people using the built-in hand cut-outs, without the need for lifting equipment. Due to the size of the individual mats, a large estate, van, or flatbed vehicle is required for transport — the exact vehicle requirement depends on the kit size. Stack mats flat to maximise load efficiency, and ensure the load is properly secured before transport.

Yes. Enduramat Kit mats can be trimmed with appropriate cutting tools to fit non-standard site shapes, curved edges, or areas around obstacles. Arrangement of full mats in different configurations can also achieve partial coverage without cutting in many cases — lay out the full kit in the planned pattern before cutting to minimise waste. Any cut mats should be noted and reported at the end of the hire period.

In most applications, the weight of Enduramat Kit mats combined with the friction between the mat underside and the ground surface is sufficient to keep the mats stable under vehicle and pedestrian loading. On uneven or sloping ground, or where vehicle manoeuvring could shift the mat edges, the supplied connectors should be used to link adjacent mats together and prevent separation. On very soft ground, check that the mat edges are not lifting under repeated loading, which can create a trip hazard at the mat boundary.

Yes. The pedestrian side of an Enduramat Kit mat has a textured, non-slip finish designed to reduce the risk of slips and falls even in wet, muddy, or sloping conditions. Always ensure mats are deployed with the correct side facing up for the intended use — vehicle side up for traffic routes, pedestrian side up for walkways. Check mat edges are flush with adjacent sections and that connectors are fully engaged before opening a pedestrian walkway to the public.

Yes. When handling Enduramat Kit mats, wear work gloves to protect against the textured mat surface during carrying and positioning, and steel toe boots to protect against dropped or falling mats — individual mats are heavy enough to cause a foot injury if dropped at an awkward angle. When laying mats on active sites, a high-visibility vest is required, and bystanders should be kept clear of the mat placement zone during installation and recovery.
