Please note: Images are for illustration purposes only. Actual product supplied may differ.
If you are looking to avoid underground service pipes or power cables the Cable and Pipe Locator eCAT4+ will locate them quickly, safely and accurately. Building on the features of the standard eCAT4, with added data logging, a service due indicator and a SWING warning, the eCAT4+’s depth measurement feature allows you to better identify the route of buried utilities. Working in conjunction with the Genny4 (49523), its power boost function enables the locate signal to travel further and deeper, and couple onto utilities more easily.
It features four separate signal determination modes, with information about each relayed through the built-in LCD screen. The first of these signals is Avoidance Mode which allows for quick checks of an area for power, radio, and Genny signals, indicating the presence of buried utilities. The Power Mode focuses on detecting electromagnetic fields emitted by energised power cables. The Radio Mode detects long-range radio signals transmitted through buried pipes and cables, whilst the Genny Mode, when used with the Genny4, allows for depth estimation and detection of utilities that don't emit their own signals.

Questions
This tool is designed to locate underground cables and service pipes quickly and accurately, helping to prevent accidental damage during digging or construction work.
Using a cable locator helps you avoid striking live power cables or service lines, reducing the risk of injury, costly repairs, and project delays.
Yes, it can detect power cables, metal pipes, and other buried utilities using different detection modes for various signal types.
The eCAT4 Plus includes advanced features like depth estimation, data logging, a service reminder, and a SWING warning to ensure accurate and safe use.
The SWING warning alerts the operator if the tool is being used incorrectly, such as being swung too much, which could affect detection accuracy.
It allows you to measure how deep the detected utility is buried, making it easier to plan safe digging and avoid damage.
The Genny4 is a signal generator that works alongside the eCAT4 Plus to boost detection power, helping locate utilities that don’t emit their own signals.
Avoidance Mode checks for multiple signal types in one scan, Power Mode detects live electrical cables, Radio Mode locates signals from distant radio sources, and Genny Mode identifies utilities when used with the Genny4 transmitter.
Yes, it’s designed with IP54 environmental protection, meaning it’s resistant to dust and water, making it suitable for outdoor use.
Yes, it’s user-friendly with a clear LCD display and simple mode selection, making it suitable for both professionals and first-time users.
It automatically records usage data, which can be transferred via USB for performance review, training, or compliance documentation.
The built-in Service Due Indicator notifies you when the tool needs calibration or maintenance to ensure ongoing accuracy.
Yes, the eCAT4 Plus can detect power and radio signals on its own, but using it with the Genny4 provides greater accuracy and depth detection.
It’s ideal for anyone involved in excavation, landscaping, groundwork, or utility installation—any task that risks contact with buried infrastructure.
Yes, you should wear protective goggles and gloves, especially when working on active sites or near exposed ground surfaces.
