With winter fast approaching, it is important to think ahead of the cold weather & plan your back up power hire requirements. Unfortunately, you can’t predict when power outages will happen but it's important that you know what you would need if one occurred so that you can keep your businesses running smoothly.
Wattage Requirements
Before hiring a generator, it is essential you know how much wattage your equipment will need as you don’t want to end up not having enough energy to power them. It is always better to overestimate than underestimate when it comes to power requirements for your generator. You can find the items wattage on their nameplate or on another area on the item. If you can't find the wattage on the item, check your owner’s manual. If you're going to use multiple items, but use each of them separately, get a generator that can power the item with the highest wattage. Alternatively, if you're going to run multiple tools and other equipment together, choose a generator that can power the combined wattage. It is also advisable to add around 20% on top of the highest wattage to keep you covered.
Generator Hire
As power outages are completely unpredictable, you don’t know how long you’re going to need a generator for. You may not require it very often which makes purchasing one seem unnecessary. This is why it is more flexible and cost effective to hire a generator. At HSS, you can choose from a variety of generators to suit your needs.
Diesel Vs Petrol
When hiring a generator, you will have the choice between petrol and diesel models. Which generator you choose will often be based on the size and power requirements you'll need. Petrol is a common choice for smaller models as it's more cost-effective to be used on a smaller scale. For larger generators that will be used on a long-term basis, diesel will offer a saving on fuel and stand up more to regular use.
Portable Options
Portable generators are great for flexibility and are easy to use. Without compromising on efficiency or size, portable generators still offer great running time whilst using a lower amount of fuel.
