How to Jet Wash and Re-Sand a Driveway
Refresh your driveway with pressure washing, re-sanding and the right finishing tools

man jet washing the driveway

Ready to bring your driveway back to life? Months of rain, dirt, algae and everyday use can leave block paving looking tired, but a good jet wash can make a big difference in just a few hours.

At HSS DIY, you’ll find everything you need to clean, refresh and re-sand your driveway properly. From pressure washers and patio cleaner attachments to driveway cleaner, sand, brushes and PPE, our range helps you tackle the job safely and get a longer-lasting finish.

Never jet washed and re-sanded a driveway before? Don’t worry, our experts have. Use our handy guide below to learn how to clean block paving, let it dry properly and brush fresh sand back into the joints for a neat, stable finish.

Jet Washing & Cleaning

Start by clearing loose debris, treating stains and washing the surface in manageable sections. A pressure washer or hot washer helps lift dirt, algae and oil marks, while a patio cleaner attachment can make larger paved areas quicker and easier to clean evenly.

Re-Sanding, Finishing & PPE

Once the driveway is completely dry, brush fresh sand back into the joints to help lock the blocks in place and reduce movement. Sharp sand can be suitable for older driveways with wider gaps, while kiln dried sand is best for newer block paving as the finer particles fit more easily into smaller joints. Finish by sweeping away any excess and use gloves, safety glasses and cleaning products to keep the job tidy and safe from start to finish.
