Wash Bedding and Curtains
You may wash your bedding on a regular basis, but now is a good time to make sure you get to it. Wash comforters, sheets, pillowcases and blankets in all the bedrooms. Then, take the curtains down and wash them. Surprisingly, curtains collect a lot of dust and a good washing is the best way to make them look fresh and clean. Be sure to take fragile drapes to the dry cleaner instead of washing them yourself.
Wipe Out Kitchen Cupboards
When was the last time you cleaned out your kitchen cupboards? Take an afternoon to remove crumbs and dust and make your cupboards look like new. Remove all the dishes in the cupboards before you wipe them down, and then organise kitchen gadgets as you replace them.
Make General Repairs
As you clean, make a list of general repairs and then cross them off one by one. Fixing things like loose doorknobs, broken tiles, loose hinges, torn cushions and other small things can make a big difference in how a room looks.
As you do these spring-cleaning projects, you may notice other things that you can do to freshen up your rooms. Make note of these things and take on the tasks one by one and your home will be ready for summer before you know it.
The Garage
The garage is another area that can benefit from some spring cleaning projects. An organised garage is easier to use and can actually give you more storage space.
Remove Clutter
Just like you did inside, start by removing clutter in your garage. Get rid of things you haven’t used or know you won’t need anymore to make room for other things and to make your garage easier to use.
One easy way to quickly sort through all the clutter in your garage is to take things out one at a time and add them to one of three piles: “keep,” “donate” and “throw away.” Then, only take things from the “keep” pile back into the garage.
Sweep the Floors
Before you add things back to the garage, sweep the floors. Use a large push broom and cover the entire floor. This is a good time to take care of any damage in your garage. Take care of oil spills, broken shelves, loose knobs and any other damage.
Install Shelves and Cupboards
One of the best ways to keep your garage organised is to install shelves and cupboards. You can construct some basic shelves with boards and planks and then use boxes or plastic bins to keep things organised. You can also add a workbench and cupboards to the garage to create a workspace and keep tools and equipment organised.

Take on these tasks and start the summer with a clean, organised garage!
The Garden
Spring cleaning doesn’t have to stop with your home. The spring months are the ideal time to do some spring cleaning in your garden so it will flourish and even be more usable during the summer.
Prepare the Garden
First, clean out your garden by removing dead plants, leaves, sticks and other debris that has found its way into your flower beds and vegetable patches during the winter. Pull weeds, till the soil, trim hedges and make basic preparations so that when the weather is warm enough you can add new plants.
You can hire a skip to make this process much easier. With a skip you’ll be able to remove stones, soil, branches, and other debris quickly, as you’ll be able to fill the skip and then dispose of the waste easily.
Repair Tools
Take this time to repair your garden tools so that when you start gardening again, your equipment will be ready. Things like rakes, hedge trimmers, shovels, lawn mowers, wheel barrows and other equipment take a lot of wear and tear, but making repairs each spring will keep them in good shape.
Paint and Repair Garden Features
Winter weather can take its toll on fences, trellises, water features, pathways and other garden features, so part of your spring cleaning plan should include making repairs to these. A fresh coat of paint and quick repairs can be all it takes to make your garden look brilliant and ready for the summer months again.
You probably aren’t exactly looking forward to spring cleaning, but when you take these tasks on one by one, your home and garden will be in excellent shape, clean and organised, so you can relax and enjoy the summer sun.
